Blackberry and Apple Fayre

Torquay Little Theatre trip 12th March 2016

We were treated to a highly enjoyable evening with an excellent performance of “Entertaining Angels” by Richard Everett, a bittersweet comedy with a strong message of hope.  The main role was originally played by Penelope Keith, but at the Little Theatre the TOADS stalwarts and some newcomers created their own memorable evening. TOADS kindly offered us the proceeds of their charity night performance and we raised a total of £588

Westminster Trip 26th June 2016

42 of us took the coach to Westminster for an overnight stay which included a visit, organised by our own Kevin Foster, to the Houses of Parliament. An auspicious date, as it turned out, as it was the day that MPs returned following the Brexit referendum.  We enjoyed a tour of the House and some were able to go into the Chamber to hear David Cameron speak. We also arranged visits to Westminster Abbey and Lambeth Palace. A very memorable two days, made possible by Kevin, to whom we are most grateful. It was also an opportunity to help Brian Gerry celebrate his birthday.  The trip raised £390 for our funds

Organ recital 20th August 2016

John Bryden was our organist in the 1980s and 90s. He is now based in Edinburgh but spends much of his time overseas teaching and performing. He still has many devoted admirers in south Devon and we were delighted to be able to welcome back in August when a packed church enjoyed a virtuoso organ concert. John has promised to return soon and we are looking forward to it already. The evening raised £704 for the Friends

Blackberry and Apple Pie Fayre 24th September 2016

Many thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this annual event such a success. The ingredients included sunshine, music, good food, a baking competition, cake decorating classes, great fun and many happy visitors. And, not least, we raised over £1300 for the Friends, which will support future projects of the PCC. It would be unfair to mention individuals by name, but this was a great team effort, well supported by the wider church family and the local community. We will be back in 2017

The Friends organised two meals which were both well supported; a Christmas lunch at the Headland Hotel and our regular New Year Dinner at Amici Restaurant.

Amici Restaurant 18th January 2017

Always a good event.  Host Mauro Pettinelli will welcome us to a great evening at Torquay’s popular Italian restaurant. Watch this space for menu details and prices but do get the date in your diary now. (Amici of course means Friends in Italian – so what an appropriate place to start the year!)
